Spring Cookout – Sat, May 27th
Summer is just around the corner, but we’ve already enjoyed an early vacation and are headed back to Tennessee as we write this. Hopefully, you have all saved the date of our next Johnson City Families’ gathering THIS COMING SATURDAY!
This month, we will be having a cookout so bring your own meat to grill, any buns or fixings you need to go with it, and a side dish or a desert to share. We will have a couple of large grills and griddles, but feel free to bring your own grill ONLY IF IT IS CONVENIENT!
Make sure to label your dish if it is gluten/dairy/gluten-dairy free and if it contains nuts and bring serving utensils. Condiments will be provided. Healthy drinks and cold water will be available along with paper plates, bowls, and eating utensils. Several benches and tables will be available as well as an assortment of lawn chairs, but you are encouraged to bring yours. There is plenty of shade so canopies are not needed.
We will, once again have a variety of water games for the kids to play so be sure to bring a towel and dry clothes if you think your kiddos will need them!

Date & Time
Sat, May 27th, 4:00 – 9:00
Our events are located in the meadow at Steele Haven under the big event tent located there. Parking is designated and visitors are strongly encouraged not to park along the road, along the driveway, or in the bottom land near the creek.
The event will start at 4:00 with games and some organized (and disorganized!) sports for children of all ages and parents can join in if they like. Feel free to arrive early to help setup or to meet others, but everyone attending should plan to arrive by 5:30 as we will give thanks for our food and eat at that time. More activities are planned at 6:30 and the bonfire will be lit at 7:00 and burn into the night.
Rules & Regulations
This event is intended to be family-friendly and Jesus-honoring. And while we make no judgement about their use, we ask that you bring no alcohol or drugs and that no minors may carry or use firearms or weapons (sorry boys, those sheath knives have to stay at home). The event and all attendees are required to stay in the meadow and are not permitted to go up to the barn or the main houses or into the woods or on the train tracks. The boundary of our property is the driveway and guests are asked to remain on the east side at all times. There is an historic cemetery on the property and attendees are encouraged to respectfully view the headstones and the history that they tell. You can play in the creek, but there is no garden hose available to clean you up. A portable toilet will be available so boys, please don’t go off to pee in the woods. All children should strive to be gentlemen and ladies towards one another and parents are encouraged to chaperone any children at the event as though they were their own.
